Dr. Johannes Hain, the executive vice president of Advanced Material Department, SCHOTT AG, is proposed by the organizing committee of German World of Laser & Photonics to act as the Exhibitor Chairman. The 3-day exhibition will open in SNIEC on 18th, Mar, 2008. Advances and innovations in photonics and laser technology will be exhibited on the show.

In Oct. 2007, representatives from the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology, exhibitors and the organizer of the show, MMI, met in Munich to discuss on the exhibition. Dr. Johannes Hain, one of the most respected figures in German photonics industry, is invited to be the Chairman of the exhibition.

The German World of Laser & Photonics will open concurrently with LASER. World of Photonics China. German companies will seize the opportunity to exhibit to the world their advances, products and professional know-how in photonics technology, mainly in semi-conductor lighting, life sciences, and material processing. Another highlight on the show is the introduction of German solar-energy technology into China, which will attract more professional gazes. The organizer will also hold forums to discuss fully on these issues.

The German photonics industry developed in two-digit speed in 2006, in which merchandise export took up 60%. China is an important commercial partner of Germany and is now in great need of high-tech products and photonics systems. The goal of the show is to improve trading between the two countries, help German companies to enlarge their market share in China and facilitate communication between the two markets.

Dr. Hain said that now is the best time to bring German high-tech products into Chinese market. The photonics technology will surely create high quality goods, improve production efficiency and facilitate energy conservation.

SCHOTT AG has been active in the Asian market, especially in China --- 20% of its turnover is from China and the company is hoping to gain more in the market. The company has made China the production center of its Advanced Materials Department, built an application center and developed an entire sales agent network.
